The best of the saintly

He is the best of the saintly who is compassionate to all, inimical towards no one, and forbearing.
Truth is his very essence, and as such he is faultless, equipoised, and works for the welfare of all.
His awareness is never overcome by desire, his senses are subdued, and his heart is soft.

2018
He is pure, devoid of a possessive mentality, and free from worldly pursuits.
He eats in moderation, is peaceful, and steady in his determination.
He is surrendered to Me, centered in the life of contemplation, and attentive.
He is deeply rooted in the self, forbearing even in the midst of adversity, and has overcome the six waves of material nature [hunger, thirst, lamentation, delusion, old age and death].

He does not seek honor and is respectful to all. He is adept in awakening others, an unmotivated friend, merciful and a poet-sage. (SB 11.11.29-31)

2016

I am truly feeling that these daily excursions to Bankey Bihari, Radha Vallabh and Radha Damodar are having a profound impact on my bhajan. I barely notice the noisy vehicles any more, though I truly hope that something can be done about it.

In a way I have to laugh at the traffic jams that we have in Vrindavan. I mean, this is not the Long Island Expressway at rush hour.
Not that it is not a huge annoyance to be walking on a street barely wide enough for a car, and suddenly be confronted with an impasse -- a rickshaw, an e-rickshaw, a bunch of motorcycles and one car to make it complete.
What to speak of the inconvenience of being practically mowed down by a nineteen-year-old who puts the horn in his saddle where he can sit on it without having to lower the volume even by accident.
I still hope that they will be able to start a tradition of horns in Vrindavan that go Radhe Radhe! or Radhe Shyam! It always worked with the bicycle rickshaws. Do we really need more angry uptight noises in a crowded street situation?
Anyway, my mind is occupied by these Tin Thakurs and by the story of Vrindavan that meets and greets me in every alleyway on my way to them.
Jai Radhe.

2015

It seems I was on a roll on this subject seven years ago. These are kind of possessed utterances. It seems they should be read together.

The anima and animus are the unconscious desire for love
given ideal form -- suitable for love.
If one takes all the animae and all the animi in the world
removes all impurities and distills their essence,
one has the arrow that points to Radha and Krishna.
Love means seeing
the Radha-ness,
the Krishna-ness,
and the Yugal-ness.
But Love sees beyond the projection to the real person.
Because God is really in the person,
not the anima, not the animus.
Love means seeing both the self and the Self in the other.
