Locan Das's Dhāmāli Part 2: Nāgara songs by Narahari

Some may find the erotic nature of these posts distasteful. Be forewarned. Sri Narahari’s Padavali at a Glance Since Lochan Dasa is Thakur Narahari’s disciple, let us examine some of his poetry first. Then we will have a good idea about what inspired Lochan to write his Dhāmāli . Locan Das's Dhāmāli (from Gadadhar Pran Das) Part I (Introduction)

Image
It is my great pleasure to post this revised and updated edition of Gadadhar Pran's translation and commentary on Lochan Das Thakur's Dhāmāli.  More than twenty years ago our first edition of Locana das Thakura’s Dhāmāli came out. But since then our understanding of the topic has grown considerably. We have also strived in many ways to improve our first presentation in this second edition. Thus we sincerely hope that the Vaishnavas will get pleasure in reading this. Sri Pranananda Mishra’s Korcā

Image
Sri Pranananda Mishra’s Korcā Gadadhar Pran Das, whatsapp+91-7501237557 This korcā continues from where Another Side of Thakura Bhaktivinoda left off. In ancient Bengal when Sri Gauranga’s bhauma lila was manifest in our world, a diary was called a korcā , and Svarupa Damodar, Murari Gupta and Raghunath das Goswami are amongst the foremost authors who wrote korcās to record what they witnessed in Mahaprabhu’s daily life. But similarly, as we make notes of our Gaura lila and Krishna lila meditations (to preserve and share these adventures) Pranananda Mishra’s Korcā will become like a diary as well. As this venture begins though we wonder: Can this personal diary be presented to a general audience? Because since most people are uninformed about how the raganuga bhakti process works (to bring about our eternal destiny with Sri Bhagavan in the spiritual world) won’t they lack appreciation for what we earnestly wish to share? But on the other hand, those who are resol...

Nitai Pada Kamala

Image
It was on this day in 2015 that Swami Veda Bharati left his body in Rishikesh. I was in Vrindavan at the time but left the same day to be there for the jala-samādhi and I stayed for several weeks until the mourning period was over. Someone also sent me a photo of the Nitai Pada Kamala, which evoked memories from 1976 or thereabouts. This date was also Guru Purnima in 2011, and my remarks inspired a long thread with plenty of comments. Facebook memories.  July 14 2020 Chapter 28 of Another Side of Bhaktivinoda Thakur by Gadadhar Pran Das is now available. There is only one more chapter, which will be appearing soon. Then what happens? Probably a final edit and then publication. How that will be organized I do not know, but it seems that GP Prabhu has finally got a few disciples who are faithful and will help get it done. Which I think is at least in part due to the publication on line on my blog. I was checking yesterday. Some chapters have had only a couple of hundred ...
