FB Memories April 18

It is now officially hot. Love it. Lots of flowers. The malatis and juthi are just emitting powerful lusty fragrances. Down by the Ganges, there are all sorts of spring birds passing through. I love how flocks fly just above the surface of the river. Probably to keep themselves cool.
Bhagavatam 3.15.38. Bhagavat-sandarbha 68.2.
taṁ tv āgataṁ pratihṛtaupayikaṁ sva-pumbhis
te’cakṣatākṣa-viṣayaṁ sva-samādhi-bhāgyam |
haṁsa-śriyor vyajanayoḥ śiva-vāyu-lolac-
chubhrātapatra-śaśi-kesara-śīkarāmbum ||
They beheld Him as He arrived, the fulfillment of their samādhi become apparent to their eyes,
accompanied by His own associates, who brought with them
paraphernalia for His service.
He was being fanned by two whisks, swan-like in beauty,
the pleasing breeze from which shook the pearls
that dangled from the white umbrella,
appearing like drops of nectar falling from the full moon.

Swami Veda: Yoga is the natural (sahaja) accompanied by intentionality (saṅkalpa) and observation (avalokana).

my heart is intoxicated with delight,
so much so that liberation seems bitter to me,
as much as the sufferings of hell,
and the pleasures experienced through sense objects
seem like the fiery suffering
that comes of swallowing a powerful poison;

Now that I have tasted the delights of association
my heart is intoxicated with delight,
so much so that liberation seems bitter to me,
as much as the sufferings of hell,
and the pleasures experienced through sense objects
seem like the fiery suffering
that comes of swallowing a powerful poison;
the greatest of the gods
seem like nothing more than worms or insects,
and the mystic perfections of the yogis
seem like nothing better than magic tricks.(VMA 1.66)

I was compared to the Emperor in Star Wars by someone today. I had to look it up on Wikipedia. Apparently it means "a symbol of evil and sinister deception." Next they will be calling me Emmanuel Goldstein!
To which my friend, the late Dr. Jayalakshmi Alankar posted:
You cannot treat Harikatha or Harinam
the way you treat the words or mind.
As a ping pong ball of dodging battled thoughts.
Words to bypass that trickster's what we need to find,
we're searching for the sound that catapults
us into ras. That is where you leave the words behind.
And rasa magic then transforms our every word
from heard-millions-of-times to never heard.

We could argue about which is more important, bheda or abheda, but that would only show the achintya-ness of bhedābheda. The bheda is obvious, the abheda is not.
Our sādhana goes through the bheda, but it must reach the abheda, at 100% total non-difference of bheda and abheda, when the miracle of acintya manifests and produces rasa.
