śraddhā-rajyan-matir atitarām uttamaḥ-śloka-maulim

ābhāso’pi kṣapayati mahā-pātaka-dhvānta-rāśim
O virtuous one!
Just fix your mind on the lotus feet of Krishna
and worship Him with great faith.
He is worshiped with poetic hymns
by great saints and scriptural authorities.
He is the supreme savior among saviors.
In the same way that even the slight glimpse of the sun’s rays
dissipates the darkness of night,
even a dim dawning of the Holy Name
erases the darkness of ignorance
and frees one from even the blackest contamination of sin.

kṛṣṇasya nānā-vidha-kīrtaneṣu
tan-nāma-saṅkīrtanam eva mukhyam
tat-prema-sampaj-janane svayaṁ drāk
śaktaṁ tataḥ śreṣṭhatamaṁ mataṁ tat
Of all the different types of Krishna kirtan,
foremost is the chanting of His holy names
It alone has the power to directly bestow the wealth of prema
and so is considered to be the best of all.

caitanyeti kṛpāmayeti paramodāreti nānā-vidha‑
premāveśita-sarva-bhūta-hṛdayety āścarya-dhāmann iti

“Chaitanya! Most merciful one! Most munificent one!
One who fills the hearts of all beings

Embodiment of spiritual joy! Lover of your own name!”
I pray that my life should pass
spent in tirelessly chanting these names of Gauranga.

badhnan prema-bhara-prakampita-karo granthīn kaṭī-ḍorakaiḥ
saṅkhyātuṁ nija-loka-maṅgala-hare-kṛṣṇeti-nāmnāṁ japan
aśru-snāta-mukhaḥ svam eva hi jagannāthaṁ didṛkṣur gatā-
yātair gaura-tanur vilocana-mudaṁ tanvan hariḥ pātu vaḥ
May the golden-bodied Hari deliver you,
bringing joy to your eyes by His pacing back and forth,
His face bathed in tears out of His desire to see Lord Jagannath.
To count the world-saving Hare Krishna names He chants,
He ties knots in a rope tied around His waist
with hands that shake from the love that fills Him.

Chanting the the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra,
the most perfect incantation made up
of only the most wonderful names of the Lord—
the mantra sung by the incarnation of mercy, Lord Chaitanya—
When will my life be made successful here in Vrindavan?

Please let me become a constant reciter of Your names, addressing You as Śrī-vallabha ["He who is very dear to Lakshmi"], Varada ["the bestower of benedictions"], Dayā-para ["He who is causelessly merciful"], Bhakta-priya ["He who is very dear to His devotees"], Bhava-luṇṭhana-kovida ["He who is expert at plundering the status quo of repeated birth and death"], Nātha ["the Supreme Lord"], Jagan-nivāsa ["the resort of the cosmos"], and Nāga-śayana ["the Lord who lies down on the serpent bed"].

I do not know out of how much nectar
the two syllables of Krishna’s name have been created:
Dancing madly on my tongue,
they awaken in me the desire to possess countless tongues;
as they sprout in my ears, they give me the hope
that I may one day have millions of ears;
and as they enter into the garden of my heart
they overcome the activities of every one of my senses,
leaving me inert!

All glories, all glories to Krishna’s joyful form

By chanting It, I have forgotten to give care
to my prescribed duties,

No matter how it is done,
on touching a living being’s lips,
the Name grants liberation.
It is my supreme ambrosia,
It is my life,
It is my unique ornament.

kandarpa-koṭi-laliteti sunāgareti

Her eyes filled with tears,
Her voice is full of hope,
Radha constantly repeats Krishna’s names:
“Shyama! Most handsome! Enchanter!
Charming as a million Cupids! Playboy!”
When will this Radha ever be pleased with me?

śyāma śyāmety anupamarasāpūrṇa-varṇair japantī
sthitvā sthitvā madhura-madhurottāram uccārayantī
muktā-sthūlān nayana-galitān aśru-bindūna vahantī
hṛṣyad-romā pratipada-camatkurvatī pātu rādhā
Astonishing you at every step,
Her bodily hairs horripilating,
teardrops as large as pearls flowing from her eyes,
as she chants the words, “Shyama, Shyama!”
names completely filled with incomparable flavor,
only to stop to pronounce them again, louder,
in a voice sweeter than sweet—
May that Radha deliver you!

atisnehād uccair api ca hari-nāmāni gṛṇatas
tathā saugandhādyair bahubhir upacāraiś ca yajataḥ

May I always wander in the blissful land of Vrindavan,
my lips constantly crying aloud the names of Hari with great affection,
worshiping the Divine Couple with delightful scents and other gifts,
and fixing my mind on Srimati Radharani’s delicate lotus feet.

Radha’s names
kvāpy ānuṣaṅgikatayodita-rādhikākhyā-
vismāritākhila-vilāsa-kalā-kalāpam
kṛṣṇeti-varṇa-yugala-śravaṇānubandha-
prādurbhavaj-jaḍima-ḍambara-saṁvṛtāṅgīm
O Krishna!
At any time at all, in any connection whatsoever,
if you hear the name of Srimati Radharani,
you immediately forget your own identity
as well as all your clever innovations for captivating young women.
O Radhe!
As soon as the two syllables kṛ and ṣṇa enter your ears,
your entire body becomes overwhelmed
by the symptoms of ecstatic love,
especially that of being stunned.
rādheti nāma nava-sundara-sīdhu-mugdhaṁ
kṛṣṇeti nāma madhurādbhuta-gāḍha-dugdham
sarva-kṣaṇaṁ surabhi-rāga-himena ramyaṁ
kṛtvā tad eva piba me rasane kṣudhārte
Oh my greedy tongue!
Don’t you know that the name of Radha
is like fresh new ambrosia
and the name of Krishna
like wonderful sweet and thickened milk?
Add the camphor scent of your attachment
and mix them together at every moment:
then, drink, drink that alone and nothing else.

yaj-jāpaḥ sakṛd eva gokula-pater ākarṣakas tat-kṣaṇād
yatra premavatāṁ samasta-pūruṣārtheṣu sphuret tucchatā
yan-nāmāṅkita-mantra-jāpana-paraḥ prītyā svayaṁ mādhavaḥ
śrī-kṛṣṇo’pi tad adbhutaṁ sphuratu me rādheti varṇa-dvayam
May the two wondrous syllables of Radha’s name
dance forever on my tongue;
by simply whispering them,
one immediately attracts Krishna,
and for one who loves it,
all other perfections of human life seem insignificant.
Even Krishna Himself is absorbed
in lovingly chanting the mantra of Her names.

kālindī-taṭa-kuñja-mandira-gato yogīndravad yat-pada-
jyotir-dhyāna-paraḥ sadā japati yāṁ premāśru-pūrṇo hariḥ
kenāpy adbhutam ullasad-rati-rasānandena sammohitaḥ
sā rādheti sadā hṛdi sphuratu me vidyā parā dvy-akṣarā
In the forest bower by the banks of the Yamuna,
Krishna is fixed in meditation like a yogi
on the light emanating from Radha’s toenails.
Muttering Her names with eyes overflowing with tears,
His body overcome with an unbelievably joyful thrill of desire.
May those two syllables magical of Radha’s name
always reverberate in my heart.

devānām atha bhakta-mukta-suhṛdām atyanta-dūraṁ ca yat
premānanda-rasaṁ mahā-sukha-karaṁ coccāritaṁ premataḥ
premṇākarṇayate japaty atha mudā gāyaty athāliṣv ayaṁ
jalpaty aśru-mukho haris tad amṛtaṁ rādheti me jīvanam
The two syllables of Radharani’s name
are so filled with the nectar of ecstatic love
they are far out of the reach
of the gods, the devotees, the liberated and their friends.
Yet when uttered with love, they give the greatest joy.
Lord Hari Himself listens lovingly to the chanting of Her name;
He sings them joyfully in the company of Her friends,
and constantly repeats them with His eyes filled with tears.
Those two syllables of Radharani’s name
are my life and soul.

rādhā-nāma-sudhā-rasaṁ rasayituṁ jihvāstu me vihvalā
pādau tat-pada-kāṅkitāsu caratāṁ vṛndāṭavī-vīthiṣu
tat-karmaiva karaḥ karotu hṛdayaṁ tasyāḥ padaṁ dhyāyatāṁ
tad-bhāvotsavataḥ paraṁ bhavatu me tat-prāṇanāthe ratiḥ
May my tongue always be anxious
to relish the ambrosial flavor of Radha’s name;
may my feet always walk on Vrindavan’s forest paths
where Radha has left Her footprints;
may my hands always be engaged in Her work
and my heart meditate on Her feet.
And may I always feel love for Her beloved Hari,
who is always absorbed in a festive mood of love for Her.

śrī-rādhā-kiṅkarīṇāṁ luṭhati caraṇayor adbhutā siddhi-koṭīḥ

all the millions of other spiritual practices, however powerful.
Simply worship the nectar of Radha’s lotus feet
and abandon all the millions of other pious ambitions in life.
Hundreds of millions of desire trees line the land
where Radharani’s lotus feet have had their pastimes
and hundreds and millions of divine perfections
throw themselves at the feet of Her maidservants.
